A feature of MSN Search has been extended to MSN Shopping, which the portal hopes will better connect shoppers with information.
MSN Search debuted Shopping Instant Answers today. The application, used in MSN Search, tries to anticipate a user's needs by providing answers to their questions.
In Shopping, the Instant Answer process focuses on providing more information on products, as MSN Shopping group product manager Mackenzie Steele wrote in today's blog entry:
For relevant searches, the Shopping Instant Answer will provide the top three most popular products, attributes, and prices from the enormous MSN Shopping product catalog. From the answer you can also perform a side-by-side comparison of top products and get to our full product listing where rich shopping tools are available to help you easily find the product you're looking for.
Steele calls this new feature the "tip of the iceberg." It looks like MSN plans to develop more search and shopping features like these; perhaps we will see features linked to AdCenter when it formally launches in the U.S.
