Metasearch engine Dogpile has won the PC Magazine Editor's Choice
Award for their search toolbar. The issue is scheduled to come out
on June 8, 2004. This award marks the third major industry award won
by Dogpile this year.
PC Magazine editors praised Dogpile's metasearch functionality, which
simultaneously searches leading engines such as Google, Yahoo!, and
Ask Jeeves, and returns the best results from each.
The magazine was further impressed by the Toolbar's live content ticker,
which scrolls any RSS or Atom content feed right in the user's Web
browser. Reviewers also noted the Toolbar's wide array of additional
features, including yellow and white pages, pop-up blocker, and keyword
highlighter to name a few.
The PC Magazine Editors' Choice Award is the latest award to be won
by Dogpile this year. In the February 2004 issue of PC World, the
magazine's "Web Stars: Best of the Web" feature named Dogpile first
runner-up in the Search Engines category, behind category winner Google.
The Dogpile Toolbar also took top honors in the feature to win a "PC
World Best Bet Award." In addition, industry newsletter Search Engine
Watch recently named Dogpile "Best Metasearch Engine," in both the
popular vote and with the publication's editors.
Today, Dogpile also announced the release of their enhanced toolbar.
The newest version eases the accessing of syndicated XML content.
This, in turn, makes it easier for users to monitor information with
a new ticker option that allows for sequential viewing of all feeds
within a user's customized list.
"We're delighted to be recognized for our efforts to understand the
needs of our users and develop new technologies and features that
effectively address them," said Leslie Grandy, vice president of product
management, Search and Directory, at InfoSpace, Inc. "The Dogpile
Toolbar supports the fundamental mission of our metasearch products:
deliver more of the Web to users while streamlining access to the
information that is most relevant to them."
