Hello
Readers,
Well, February was certainly a wild ride, with Google's purchase
of Pyra, and Overture's purchase of Alta Vista. Watch for the
importance of blogs as a marketing tool to increase, as well
as a new and vastly improved Alta Vista.
Also, Google just started a new advertising program, called
"Content-Targeted Adwords." They feed targeted ads into skyscrapers
and banners on one of three sites - Blogger.com, HowStuffWorks.com,
and the Weather Underground. Watch for AdWords leaping from
the Google search results page and onto a banner near you.
Today's issue covers the talks about a new Mobile phone payment
standard, reasons why Google bought Pyra, an investigation of
Overture's purchase, and much more.

and aftershocks knock formerly solid firms off their strong
foundations. Infoseek, Go.com, Direct Hit and Excite collapse.

11 O'clock -- Do You Know Where Your Web Site Is?
One evening not too long ago I was looking through my web site
traffic logs, looking for patterns that could help me improve
it. I was in the section that shows the pages visitors enter
and exit my site. The page addresses begin with my domain name,
such as http://www.zmoon.com/webdesigntips.html. However, on
this occasion there were several listed that started with some
name I didn't recognize. Read

If you sell large-ticket items on eBay, watch for this new twist
in the Nigerian scam. These thieves overpay with a bunk cashier's
check and ask the seller to send them the difference in cash.
They've gotten $26,000 so far. Don't add to those numbers.
